I was reading some christian books and found this is quite useful bah. ^^
Run in such a way that you may obtain [the prize]
- 1 corinthians 9:24
It's true in life as in running: only the determined acieve their goals. Olympic medals don't go to overweight businessmen who occasionally puff around the track for exercise.
Eric Liddel, in the film Chariots of Fire, illustrates this principle. Just before the first turn in a 400-meter race, Eric was shoved off balance, and he stumbled onto the infield grass. When he looked up, he saw the others pullying awat. With a look of intense determination, Eric jumped up. With his head cocked back and his arms flailing, he rushed ahead. He was determined not only to catch up with the pack but to win the race. And he Did it!
This was the kind of fervor that the apostle Paul brought to his ministry. In 1 Corinthians 9:24 he said," Do you not know that those who run in a race all ru, but one recieves the prize? Run in a way that youmay obtain it." Paul saw himself as being like an Olympic athlete who is competing for a gold medal, straining every muscle in his body to get to the finish line. And what is the prize? It's not a temporary reward but "an Imperishable crown"
Victory is possible for every christian. So let's run as though we want to win
Quote: Winners never quit, and quitters never win!

In Matthew Chapter 17, after some of the disciples of Jesus witness His transfiguration on top of the mountain, a man approached the Lord and the disciples, and knelt and begged for the healing of his son.
Matthew 17:15-16
"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him."
This was after Jesus had performed the miracle of feeding the five thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fish, and having transfigured before their very eyes! How is it that after Jesus had performed so many miracles, demonstrated so many times the power of God, the disciples could not even heal ONE epileptic and demon possesed man?
We all have big dreams and visions. We all want to do great works for God. But I wonder how many of us shrink and retreat once goliath steps in our ways? I would sometimes. I am sure many of us here do so also. Even after a faith-filling meetings, sometimes we can be deflated with just one prick from the devil. Even after God has performed huge miracles before our eyes or even right in our very own lives, we may be intimidated and overwhelmed by our circumstances and not able to face them although we know of the authority and power that is in our hands.
Matthew 17:18-19
And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said,"why could we not cast it out?"
So are we all going to always wait for Jesus to perform that one more miracle and asked Him how He did it? Jesus called His disciples a faithless generation! Is that what we want Jesus to call us??
Matthew 17:21
(Jesus says)" However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting"
The kind that Jesus was referring to little faith as big as a mustard seed that we know we so well. SO YES! Having that faith is not enough! Since we are in the momentum of building our spiritual lifes, lets PRAY and FAST UNTIL we get through.
Remember prayer is longer about coming to God with your christmas wishes. It is about talking to God and listening to Him as though He is your friend. It is developing your relationship with Him just like wyou do to your friends. But more than that, its coming before the glory of the God and talk to him like a real father, a daddy.
